Cottonwood Grille Restaurant Review:

Located slightly away from the downtown core, on 9th Street at the Boise River, Cottonwood Grille offers a warm, mountain atmosphere with a partially rustic wood log interior and a grand central fireplace. Chef-owner Peter Blatz has created a menu featuring all-natural, antibiotic-free chicken, house-made sausages, fresh exotic fish, and locally-raised lamb and pork. Appetizers showcase expected pairings, but the dinner menu takes a more sophisticated route. Choose tender braised lamb shanks christened with a robust red wine sauce matched by sweet onions, Idaho potatoes, carrots and celery; or choose the aged Prime sirloin dusted with cracked peppercorns and paired with a creamy peppercorn sauce. Fish lovers will enjoy fresh British Columbia farm-raised salmon filets wrapped in a crispy Idaho-potato crust and drizzled with lemon beurre blanc. "Fresh Game" selections may include peppercorn-grilled Black Canyon Ranch elk and tender braised duckling. A thoughtfully assembled wine list offers a range of vintages to complement any dish. As a sweet finale, indulge in the German chocolate cake or the crème brûlée.
