Street Restaurant Review:

The Islington Street stretch of Portsmouth is becoming a magnet for hipsters and artists, and among its many draws is this destination for internationally inspired small plates. The bar is center stage, crafting classic cocktails with inventive twists; local brews abound. Try the Korean fried chicken with a spicy ginger sauce or banh mi with pickled carrots, daikon and Asian spiced meat or seitan. Find flaky empanadas with a tangy green sauce or Thai riblets. Currywurst is covered in a spicy tomato sauce and paired with crisp yucca fries. Sandwiches include a number with thick porchetta, arugula and sharp provolone, and a pressed Cuban. Or try a bowl of pho with the traditional accompaniments. For the unadventurous, the burger is thick and juicy, and a street dog is layered with beans. The dessert sampler presents small squares of brownie, lime almond cake, fluffy zeppoles and a coffee-flavored cookie.
