Ted Drewes dispenses its treats from two longstanding St. Louis locations (the other is at 4224 S. Grand Blvd.). Flavors like mint, peach, pralines and Heath Bar can be scooped into cones, blended into concretes or poured into sundaes for specialties such as Terramizzou (a secret blend of chocolate and pistachios) and the Dutchman Delight (with chocolate, butterscotch and pecans). It’s a point of pride that servers never write anything down, and even the most complicated orders always come out right. The carefully guarded brown paper bags leaving this place are contraband of the most serious kind: to-go orders of custard, carefully packaged (for free) on dry ice.
