 BALEENsandiego Restaurant Review: Located at Paradise Point, a tropical island on Mission Bay, BALEENsandiego is a hidden gem. Long a draw with tourists staying at the resort, it tended to get overlooked in town --- but no more. Dishes have included wood-fired flatbreads like the “Hunter” with duck-bacon sausage, smoked mozzarella, fennel and red peppers; Creole-spiced shrimp and grits; a grilled beef filet paired with truffle butter yellow corn, Point Reyes blue cheese mash, asparagus and mushroom pan gravy; and barbecue big-eye tuna. For dessert, consider the double-chocolate tart with cocoa syrup. Be sure to dine outside on the patio and enjoy the breezy views and sunsets. |
