| Joël Antunes was another of those very good chefs who disappeared apparently without a trace off the London dining scene, in his case after Les Saveurs in Mayfair closed. So it’s good to see the chef popping up again and back in the capital. The restaurant is a large space on the first floor of the Park Plaza Westminster Bridge London hotel, at the center of a group of restaurants and bars that give the place a real buzz. The black-walled environs are best seen in the evening, when you can dine first then listen to live music next door. The menu is full of classics---starters of octopus salad with aubergine caponata; tuna tartare with avocado and Japanese dressing; chicken liver parfait. For mains, go for scallops with cèpes and gnocchi or veal sweetbreads with roast potatoes and porcini. Pastas and risottos make an appearance, as does beef bourguignon. It’s all very well done and prices are extremely good value, particularly with the dish of the day lunch at £9.95. Lunch £13.95 for burger and drink; 2 courses £18, 3 courses £23. 2-course pre-theatre menu £16.95, 3 courses £19.95. Tasting menu £65. |
