| Richard Blais and his high-toned-burger team have opened the second Atlanta location of FLIP. Aim for booth seating, to secure some insulation from the incessant, repetitive "music." Famous for its use of foie gras in milkshakes and as a side item and its tony takes on the classic American two-hander, FLIP burger boutique offers a wide variety of choices. The beef burger is, of course, our favorite, being a classic made from locally raised grass-fed beef. We tried the mushroom and Swiss, intrigued by the notion of Swiss cheese foam, but the result was messy and added no cheese flavor to the burger. Besides beef, some of the FLIP burgers are vegetarian, while others focus on seafood, venison, turkey and chorizo, to name a few. The fries are magic, crisp and delectable, and we like them with the smoky mayonnaise. Another good side is the smoked Caesar salad. The wine list is short and to the point, and does offer enough decent reds to make a choice by the glass easy. Good bottled beers and a few fine draughts also are available. |
