What You'll Find in the Restaurant News

If you’re interested in news about your local restaurants, then you’re sure to love the careful attention we pay to what’s going on in restaurants around the United States. When you check our breaking stories, you’ll find the information you need to make sure that you’re on top of what’s going on in your area. Everything is up-to-date, so you’ll never go to that local bistro you’ve been hearing so much about only to find it closed if you’ve been checking your city’s current events. Keep your fingers on the pulse of your dining community or wow your friends when you visit them from out of town and ask to try a newly opened restaurant they haven’t heard of yet.

Openings

If you’ve ever driven by a restaurant and wondered when it showed up and why you never noticed it before, start checking Gayot’s Openings section for your area. Here you’ll get updates when new restaurants open, find out who’s at the helm and what type of food to expect, and even get a gauge on price range. You’ll know right away if it’s a good place for a date or better for an after-work get together with your pals. Discover new favorites right away, instead of waiting until they’ve been open for years.

The Chef Shuffle

Avoid the experience one of our readers had when she went to a highly regarded restaurant she had been dying to go back to and asked about the executive chef, only to be told by a very annoyed maitre d’ that he was no longer affiliated with the establishment. The Chef Shuffle will let you know who is the top toque at your favorite place to eat. You’ll know right away if he or she moves and who’s going to take over.

Events and Changes

Occasionally, you’ll hear of great foodie events through your friends or co-workers, especially if they share your love of good food, but sometimes a special menu or holiday celebration at one of the restaurants you frequent will slip by without you knowing about it. Avoid missing out by checking the updates here at Gayot to learn about all the restaurant events in your area. From Chinese New Year celebrations to Valentine’s Day specials, you’ll always know what’s going on. You can also find updates on restaurants’ hours and locations, permanent menu changes, and more so that you’re prepared when you go out to eat.

Closings

The Closings section will let you know who’s retiring, which restaurants have closed their doors for the last time, and which are on temporary hiatus. This is where you can go to find out if your destination is just closed for renovations or if you have to say goodbye to an old friend. You’ll also be informed of what’s moving into the space, so that you have something to look forward to.

By keeping up-to-date on what’s going on in your dining community, you’ll never be caught driving around town, wondering, “what’s going on around here?”  You’ll know who and what is cooking where at any given point in time.  Become an expert on your local restaurants by checking Gayot regularly.
