Noche Tequila & Tapas Bar Restaurant Review: The casual drink-and-nosh Noche trio, from Tom Catherall's restaurant group, claims to serve Spanish tapas, but they really deal more in small plates. Mexican flavors rule the menu, and only a few items, such as the saffron paella, suggest Spain. Instead, you'll find tacos, quesadillas and enchiladas along with salads. The fish taco ($2 on Monday nights) makes a great snack to accompany a margarita. The pork on the torta Cubana (a hybrid of the Mexican torta and the Cuban medianoche) seemed dry, needing a good dose of the mojo offered alongside. For dessert, consider the chocolate tres leches cake, despite its overwrought presentation. Bypass the wines; this is a spot for beer (Bud Light is on draft) and tequilas. The garage-bay-style windows slide between the indoor and outdoor bars. Staffers are friendly, but more customer attention would make them more efficient. On lovely spring and fall evenings, the patio is a real winner. |
