This romantic restaurant is set in a converted house owned by chef-bullfighter Pablo Velez. A chef for 30 years at better Mexico City restaurants and hotels, he is as passionate about his restaurant as he is about bullfighting. Murals and paintings of bullfights adorn the walls, a torero’s suit sparkles in a case, and candles and soft lighting add to the intimate atmosphere. The open kitchen turns out classic Mediterranean and Mexican dishes from scaloppine alla Marsala and scallops bourguignon to jumbo prawns in a decadent tequila and Kahlúa sauce. Meat-lovers may opt for the classic rack of lamb with herbs and mint sauce, or a juicy filet mignon with chipotle sauce. Dine indoors in the semi-private loft or on the patio under the stars. The wine list features a good selection of California and Mexican wines, and the mixologist can turn out your favorite drinks. Leave room for some of Elena’s Cake, warm chocolate cake with vanilla ice cream, or the Key lime pie made with Mexican limes.
