Never
Overdone, Never Underdone…Always Just Right
by Alain Gayot
In
the world of hospitality, where hotels tend to follow
the trends of the moment, consistency is a commodity that's
often overlooked. Offering the best value for services
on the market today, Hilton hotels are nothing if not
consistent. Wherever the country, whatever the city in
which the property is located, guests will always find
thoughtful accommodations with the latest technology,
select dining options, facilities geared toward leisure
and business and gracious service.
The
Hilton group acquired its modern outpost in Mexico’s
second largest city in 1998. Its range of comprehensive
business amenities is understandable, given the hotel’s
location within the business complex of the Guadalajara
World Trade Center and just across the street from the
state-of-the-art Guadalajara Convention Center. (A bridge
that will connect the hotel directly to the center is
in the offing.) We stayed on one of two Club Level floors,
in a contemporary guest room that featured excellent views
of the basin silhouetted by distant mountains. One of
our executive privileges was a one-hour massage special
for only $20.

In
additional to their own Los Vitrales dining room, under
the direction of a noteworthy chef who focuses on high-end
Mexican specialties, the hotel counts a Santa Fe-style
steakhouse and a wine bar called Vinifera among its dining
venues. Not designed for swimming so much as it is for
lounging beside and sunning is a small pool. The spa and fitness center is nicely outfitted with a gym, steam
room, massage area and salon. Situated in a safe area
of the city, the hotel will always be a sure bet as far
as your travel choices.
