Top 10 Mother's Day Wines 2010

Cupcake Vineyards 2009 Columbia Valley Dry Riesling, one of our Top 10 Mother's Day Wines

WHITE

Cupcake Vineyards
2009 Columbia Valley Dry Riesling

Cupcake's attractive Provence-esque label (and the winery's inherently cute name) will go over very well with Moms of the domestic goddess variety. The Washington state Riesling offers aromas and flavors of grapefruit, pineapple and nectarine. It's almost like drinking a pineapple upside-down cake. A creamy mid-palate leads into a long, subtle finish. It pairs particularly well with Asian cuisine such as sweet-and-sour prawns and Thai noodle salad, and would also complement shellfish risotto or a spicy chicken dish.
