THIS RESTAURANT IS CLOSED 1 North Belmont Restaurant Review:
This intimate restaurant (28 seats plus eight at the bar) around the corner from the city’s museums is the creation of Dutch-born, French-trained chef-proprietor Frits Huntjens. It’s an ideal setting for a quiet, refined dinner---romantic or business. Rock lobster tail in an oversize martini glass, foie gras on brioche, sweetbreads in cream, and cold smoked salmon topped with quail egg and caviar are among starters. Entrées include sautéed Dover sole filleted tableside by Huntjens, pistachio-coated local rack of lamb covered with a Merlot demi-glace, filet mignon medallions with béarnaise sauce, sea scallops on saffron risotto, and rabbit stew in puff pastry. Dessert ranges from a Grand Marnier soufflé, peach Melba and pumpkin crème brûlée to a rotating variety of cheeses such as the triple-cream Pierre Robert, cheddar from Scotland’s Isle of Mull, or Gouda from Huntjens’ homeland. Service is first-rate.
