Acqua California Bistro Restaurant Review:

About the restaurant & décor: A few years ago, owners Jerry and Barbara Keller closed the doors to their popular Acqua Pazza, a new restaurant concept moved in, and the Kellers concentrated on their Palm Springs restaurant Lulu California Bistro. Now they’re back at The River, in the exact same location with a different name but familiar concept. Subway tile and eye-popping colors feel welcoming, as does the setting overlooking The River’s manmade lake.

Food & Drinks: Open for breakfast, lunch and dinner, Acqua California Bistro features the usual suspects in the morning (perhaps the only time you can find parking at The River) with cage-free egg dishes and fresh-squeezed orange juice. There are some crossovers between the lunch and dinner offerings, including the meatloaf topped with tomato sauce or the more interesting mushroom sauce. The dinner-only lobster rolls include a trio of New England-style buns generously filled with a lobster salad of celery, chives and diced tomatoes. There is no shortage of dessert, but the chocolate fondue takes the cake with its assortment of fresh fruit, berries and pound cake. Wine and beer are available, but this is definitely more of a cocktail destination with margaritas and martinis dominating the bar menu.
