THIS RESTAURANT IS CLOSED The Advocate Restaurant Review:

There is an excited buzz and hum of anticipation here, reminiscent of travelers boarding a ship or train for a big adventure. The low lighting of the spacious dining room and bright open kitchen further encourage the party atmosphere. Seating choices are a shiny long bar, high-stooled community tables, chef's counter or smaller tables tucked up to wraparound benches. From a concise menu, to begin, try the wood-grilled squash blossom flatbread. Fresh-from-the-garden carrot soup with saffron yogurt drizzle and bonus chewy pickled vegetables, or crispy-skinned chicken filet served on creamy polenta with scattered fresh corn and ginger-grapefruit relish demonstrate expertise at combining flavor, color and texture. Follow up the meal with chocolate cake inflected with hazelnut and pomegranate, paired with a scoop of coffee ice cream. We chose a frisky vodka cocktail with elderflower, lemon, beet and chrysanthemum, but fine wine and sophisticated beers are offered, too. The Advocate is the sister of Comal.
