THIS RESTAURANT HAS CHANGED LOCATIONS Alfama Restaurant Review:
Portuguese cuisine goes upscale at this friendly but elegant locale in the West Village. There’s a little bit of something for everyone here; tapas-like starters include steamed clams in garlic and cilantro, and pork, shrimp and ginger meatballs. Among the more sizeable entrées, the varieties of bacalhau (salt cod), a Portuguese specialty, stand out, as do other seafood options like the mariscada alfama (lobster, jumbo shrimp, scallops, clams and mussels, stewed in a lobster broth with tomato, bell pepper and cilantro) and herb-crusted Atlantic hake with a mushroom vol-au-vent, Brussels sprouts, butternut squash and ruby port sauce.
