Chef/Owner Angelo Caruso is a native of Naples and one of the only restaurant owners who has managed to succeed in both the city and the suburbs. Be it in Stoneham or Boston, he serves hearty food that canvasses all of Italy for inspiration. His specialty is hand-made pasta and we regard it as some of the best in New England. Potato gnocchi float on your tongue; tagliatelle wraps itself around smoked salmon and bathes in a brandy cream sauce; and fettuccine is an odorous bundle when tossed with black truffles and baby artichokes. Other dishes include grilled shrimp with endive and balsamic vinegar, pan-roasted veal loin chops with shallots, radicchio and capers, and boneless trout with lemon and sage. The crowd at Angelos is heavy on families, couples, and baby boomers.
