THIS RESTAURANT IS CLOSED Aspens Signature Steaks Restaurant Review:

Stacked stone crafts a rustic, warm interior that suggests a mountain lodge or cozy retreat. The two-sided fireplace roars with warmth in cold weather; surrounding it is a seating pit so one may toast up properly before dining. Lobster bisque makes a good starter, and we've always thought highly of the chopped salad, adorned with free-range raised eggs. This is a place for steaks, but while they're tender and prepared as ordered, we find the flavor a bit pale. Home-style fare is represented by meatloaf, mashed potatoes and green beans, a junior version of which is offered on the kids' menu. Seafood is well represented, and there's a CAB burger. The wine list offers serviceable selections, but don't count on anything exciting. In addition, there are craft brews, including a couple of local ones, plus a list of fine spirits. The Sunday brunch buffet is a value at $21.95 for adults, but to take full advantage of it come hungry. Biscuits would pass muster with your grandmother, and so would the rich sausage cream gravy. For dessert, there's the tiramisu from Aspen's sister restaurant, Bistro VG, and Key lime pie. Also located at 2942 Shallowford Rd., 678-236-1400.
