THIS RESTAURANT HAS CHANGED LOCATIONS Avenue A Restaurant Review:
Enjoy a drink at the bar, bask in the glow of the brick fireplace, and contemplate the choices that lie ahead on Avenue A's eclectic, often Asian-inspired, menu. The clam fritter and shrimp-and-vegetable pancake appetizers are a great preface to whatever comes next, both possessing a balance of flavors, textures and colors that work. Soups, interesting salads and hearty panini (choice of three-bean or fruit salads on the side) may tempt you against ordering an entrée, but then you would miss the mechado beef stew, the spicy-sweet potato noodle chap chae, the sirloin bulgokee with red lettuce, and Avenue A's own kimchi. If you're in the mood for something savory and rich, the beef-and-pork meatloaf with mushroom gravy and au gratin potatoes is a plate full of comfort.
