THIS RESTAURANT IS CLOSED Avenue A Restaurant Review:
Avenue A offers an eclectic, often Asian-inspired menu. The teriyaki-jerk wings (yes, jerk rub topped with teriyaki sauce) and the Portuguese steamed clams with jalapeños are a good preface to whatever comes next. Soups and interesting salads may tempt you against ordering an entrée, but then you would miss the port-Craisin duck breast, the spicy-sweet potato noodle chap chae and the sirloin bulgokee with red lettuce. If you're in the mood for something quite substantial, order the lobster mac ‘n’ cheese. Chef Filomeno, a tiny woman not known for restraint with portion sizes, says if you finish it, you get dessert free. Finally, those with gluten allergies have no fear here. Gluten-free dishes are marked on the menu.
