THIS RESTAURANT IS CLOSED Back to Eden Bakery Restaurant Review:

Traditional recipes are the starting point at this vegan, gluten- and dairy-free bakery, and adjustments are calculated using carefully sourced ingredients and a house-blended, gluten-free flour mix. From scones to cookies to wedding cakes, all baked goods are appropriately tender, crisp and flavorful. Cakes come in a variety of imaginative versions, from rosewater with pistachio to peach and vanilla bourbon. Other treats include white chocolate hazelnut sea salt cookies, a peanut butter and jelly whoopee pie, and even decent gluten-free bagels and donuts. Savory quiche and cashew tarts are also worth trying, both featuring flaky crusts with savory fillings. The biscuits and gravy combo actually tastes healthful, and there are salads and soups ready to complement bakery choices. Fruit smoothies and homemade soft-serve ice cream round out the menu. Some soy- and sugar-free items are available. There's a fairly extensive lunch menu highlighting items such as chili and cornbread, but take-out is really the best option because places to sit are few and far between in the Alberta Arts District.
