Caffe Vialetto Restaurant Review:
Once an insiders’ best kept secret, Caffe Vialetto, in spite of its inconspicuous and dimly lit façade, still manages to pack them in. Regulars get the warmest welcome from owners Ernie Fernandez and Marcelo Chopa. After a few visits, however, you too will become extended family. The menu includes classics like spaghetti carbonara and linguine vongole, but also concoctions such as mac and manchego with shrimp, and croquetas with potato, truffle oil and shredded short rib. Choose from the meat candy (braised pork belly in apricot demi-glaze with four-cheese polenta) and the chicken breast stuffed with plantain, mushroom and cream cheese mousse over Champagne risotto. Fernandez and Chopa are knowledgeable about wine, so expect a rare selection of Italian labels. The signature dessert, aptly known as “The Funk,” brings tiramisu layered with Heath bar crunch with blueberry sauce.
