Cast & Plow Restaurant Review:
About the restaurant: At The Ritz-Carlton, Marina del Rey, Cast & Plow offers farm-to-table American fare with ingredients sourced from local fishermen and farmers, as well as from individual growers, ranchers and farmers markets within 500 miles. (The menu even has a map of California pointing out the origins of the avocados, goat cheese, etc.) Inside the space you'll find a lounge area with a communal table and a long bar punctuated with flat-screen televisions, and an elegant yet unpretentious dining room with wood-topped tables. The walls are rather bare --- perhaps to draw your eyes above to the striking driftwood chandelier. Outside on the patio, diners can enjoy boat-filled views of the marina at regular tables or lounge-style seating with individual fire pits.
Food & Drinks: Breakfast kicks off with organic eggs and yogurt parfait; lunch continues with the signature burger (also available at dinner). Snack on yam crisps sprinkled with espelette pepper while deciding between evening menu options like Baja grouper with zucchini mole, or duck breast with orange and fig purée. End the meal with brown sugar cake with salted caramel ice cream. The wine list continues the local focus. Cast & Plow is an enjoyable spot for a cocktail on the terrace or relaxing repast, though prices are on the higher side. Service is friendly.
