Honeypie Restaurant Review:

With deer heads mounted on the wall and an antique illustrated map of the neighborhood, as well as retro cookbooks stacked on a shelf, Honeypie oozes vintage-chic. The friendly waitstaff, with their Converse sneakers, furthers the feel. About 90 beers are on the menu as well as cocktails prepared with Wisconsin spirits, such as the ‘Sconie Mosa (orange juice, Door County cranberry wine and Champagne) and Beermosa (orange juice with New Glarus Spotted Cow). Breakfast is served until 3 p.m. daily, and it includes a couple of daily specials, plus baked french toast, Watch Me Jumpstart (a breakfast sandwich on brioche) and comfort-food sides, such as vegan sausage, bacon syrup and buttermilk biscuits. Most of the ingredients are bought from local farms, and the quality shines. For lunch and dinner, choose from hearty (grass-fed lamb and beef meatloaf, venison chili) or lighter options, like the salad of locally harvested micro greens with grilled artichoke hearts, roasted red peppers and pickled red onions. Many dishes can be adapted to accommodate vegetarians or vegans --- even the red velvet cupcakes. In fact, a visit would not be complete without ordering a slice of banana cream pie.
