THIS RESTAURANT IS CLOSED Paru's Indian Vegetarian Restaurant Restaurant Review:

This little gem is hidden (literally) on an unassuming stretch of Sunset Boulevard. You ring a doorbell and the gate will open to a small, overgrown garden and cozy dining room decorated with vibrant Indian fabrics and pictures of various saints and gurus. In that exotic and welcoming space, a hip crowd enjoys south Indian food. The menu is strictly vegetarian and prepared with the spiritual concept of loving kindness. We like to start with the samosas and various curries, such as cauliflower with potato, spinach with lentils, and chickpeas or eggplant, paired with warm paratha or poori (Indian flatbread). If you're not familiar with the south Indian style of cooking (you won't find any naan here), try the combination plates, such as Punjab Glory or Yogi's Delight, and familiarize yourself with uttapam (thick lentil crêpe), masala dosa or vadai. A good mango lassi and a nice cup of chai are available, as are interesting Indian beers. Spiced, sweet Madras coffee is a good accompaniment to a finish of rich, sweet nut cake. There's a reason this place has been around since 1979.
