With credentials that include mentoring by Wolfgang Puck at Spago in Beverly Hills, chef John Beriker brings his expertise to the mountains in this namesake restaurant he launched with his brother and father (the other “B’s” in the name). His menu is thoughtful, fusing Asian simplicity in dishes with rustic heartiness. Appetizers deliver a range of tastes and textures, from Katrina’s savory Swedish meatballs to a fresh lobster and avocado mash with an orange chili dressing, and spicy wild salmon tartare spiced with Dijon mustard and radish. Mains span the spectrum, too; particularly notable is the grilled swordfish with seafood ravioli in a sun-dried tomato cream sauce. Consider as well flavorful curries, Asian-style short ribs, and steamed Thai grouper. Of course, a mountain eatery wouldn’t be complete without several grilled beef options --- think filet mignon, rib-eye steaks and burgers inspired by all-natural Brandt Beef. Savor all of it with a drink on B.’s scenic rooftop patio complete with two cozy fire pits. A bar on each floor provides libations, while the balanced wine list features California and Pacific Northwest varietals. Desserts are all-American classics such as a warm flourless chocolate lava cake and a house-made ice cream sandwich. There's also a kids' menu to please the younger set.
