Bantam + Biddy Restaurant Review:
Atlanta chefs Shaun Doty and Lance Gummere feature pasture-raised and all-natural poultry, seasonal organic vegetables and regional fare at their Bantam + Biddy restaurants. Chicken and waffles highlights tender, juicy fried chicken and cheddar waffles, though the cheese is totally lost. Poached eggs are skillfully rendered; the eggs come from a local source. Super-flaky cheddar biscuits are crisp on top and come apart in layers. Grass-fed beef from White Oak Pastures in Bluffton, Ga., crafts the meatloaf, a thick chunk, but we think it needs to be cooked less so it’s a bit moister. Gluten-free items are routinely offered, and gluten-free fried chicken is a Sunday special. The 10-and-under "little cluckers" menu has kid-appropriate chicken choices. Pies, rice pudding and cookies are made in house at this location and delivered to the three other branches. Atlanta Fresh Yogurt is on the menu; expect Sublime Doughnuts on weekends. A few decent wines, beers (including brews on draught) and house-made cocktails comprise the adult quaffs. Vegetarian dishes are available.
