Bantam + Biddy Restaurant Review: Atlanta chefs Shaun Doty and Lance Gummere feature pastured and all-natural poultry, seasonal organic vegetables and regional fare at their Bantam + Biddy restaurants. Chicken and waffles highlights tender, juicy fried chicken and cheddar waffles, though the cheese is totally lost. Poached eggs are skillfully rendered; the eggs come from JB, a metro-area producer, and have a distinctively eggy flavor. Super-flaky cheddar biscuits are crisp on top and come apart in layers. Grass-fed beef crafts the meatloaf, a thick chunk, but we think it needs to be cooked less so it’s a bit moister. Schnitzel is a tender, breaded thin slice of pork anointed with a soft fried egg, a classic. The 10-and-under "little cluckers" menu offers chicken penne, rotisserie-chicken quesadillas and more. Pies, rice pudding and cookies may round out the meal. A few decent wines, beers (including brews on draught) and house-made cocktails comprise the quaffs. Gluten-free and vegetarian dishes are available. Also located at 1050 Crescent Ave. NE, 404-835-6450.
