Bar Bouchée Restaurant Review:
Fine French cooking and a cozy café ambience make Bar Bouchee a date night delight. The intimate restaurant boasts a solid culinary pedigree thanks to its mastermind: Union League Café’s chef/owner Jean Pierre Vuillermet. Chef de cuisine Jeffrey Cave teams with two local farms for the fresh ingredients that go into the daily chalkboard-posted specials you can relish at this “bouchon,” such as duck sausage with braised red cabbage, parsley and walnut pesto. Charcuterie, artisanal cheeses, filet mignon tartare, classic escargots, and French classics including croque monsieur with Parisian ham and Comté gratiné are menu staples. The specialty martini features fresh-squeezed blood orange juice with vodka and Cointreau. Desserts include profiteroles with warm chocolate sauce, espresso pot de crème and pistachio crème brûlée. Vuillermet appreciates fine wine and offers diners an interesting selection.
