Bar Siena Restaurant Review

About the restaurant & décor: Bar Siena is right at home in the West Loop. Its dark wood floors, exposed brick and industrial touches mimic the lofts and workspaces in the neighborhood. White lights and a massive tree bring an outdoorsy feel, and diners are encouraged to sit at patio tables with their dogs or without. There's also a window for ordering desserts on the go.

Likes: The bomboloni dessert (little hole-less doughnuts infused with sauces) and puppy patio.
Dislikes: Pizzas underwhelm with flimsy crust and flat cheese.

Food & Drinks: This restaurant could take itself very seriously, what with the sheen of Top Chef alum Fabio Viviani and DineAmic Hospitality partners at its helm. It is just the opposite: friendly and warm, just like the menu. Start with a meat and cheese platter with familiar extras such as honeycombs and almonds, then move straight to pasta. The duck lasagna – served in a mini crock – packs huge, creamy flavors. Pizzas walk from simple tomato and bufala mozzarella to fancy prosciutto fig. For dessert, consider the bomboloni (little hole-less doughnuts infused with sauces). The wine list bursts with options from Italy and California.
