One of Cleveland's fine-dining gems, The Baricelli Inn is committed to top-notch ingredients and seasonality. Meals start with an amuse-bouche, such as zucchini slices paired with a sampling of owner-chef Paul Minnillo’s artisan cheeses, all wrapped with ribbon-thin strips of yellow squash. Appetizers---duck confit with roasted apple, goat cheese, arugula and ginger vinaigrette; a salumi board for two with four cured Italian meats; and artisanal cheese boards with three, five or seven selections (which Minnillo proudly “blooms” himself in his on-site affinage)---are enough to make diners forget about entrées altogether. But the soft, decadent veal ravioli with wild mushrooms served with herb butter or the olive oil-poached striped bass reclining on a bed of sweet potato hash are enough to bring you back. Soak up the elegant atmosphere as long as you can with strong coffee and sweet desserts in the Inn’s lobby lounge or, during the warmer months, on its beautiful patio.
