: THIS ESTABLISHMENT HAS CHANGED LOCATIONS Locations don't get much better than this. Beach Walk Café is on the ground floor of a luxury gulf-side condo complex that offers daily rentals. The Crystal Beach facility overlooks an expanse of shimmering white sand and blue-green water. It's a favorite wedding spot and was even the setting for the marriage of country performers Vince Gill and Amy Grant. Which brings us to the restaurant itself: chef Tim Creehan---a wunderkind who rose to executive chef of John Folse's Lafitte's Landing in Donaldsonville, Louisiana, at age 19---will prepare the "Amy and Vince" wedding reception menu for anyone who is following in their footsteps. The guiding culinary aesthetic is all about luxury, without ever getting heavy and ponderously Continental. There is seared Hudson Valley foie gras with roasted peaches and a plum wine reduction; jumbo sea scallops, delicately fried and paired with grilled orange; and tempura-fried soft-shell crab with sticky rice, stir-fried napa cabbage, and a tangy pineapple gastrique. It’s a splurge restaurant, but this kind of art requires the blank canvas that only big cash can provide. |
