THIS RESTAURANT IS CLOSED Bella Rosa Ristorante & Galleria Restaurant Review:
Another Italian restaurant, another menu of classics---but this one sports some of the owner’s surrealist paintings. Without a doubt, this narrow, pleasant place is the sort you’ve seen a million times over, and it resides somewhere in the middle of the heap. While we like the slight twists (fried gnocchi with garlic parsley oil among them), we are disappointed by the ashy-tasting prosciutto-wrapped filet with brandy sauce. The restaurant is pretty quiet and dimly lit (and, therefore, great for romantics). On the other hand, the truck that parks out front during the wee weekend hours does a mean business selling thin-crust slices of pizza to River North bar-hoppers. But for the record, we’ve had better pies.
