: Bellino Trattoria Siciliana is beautiful and relaxing with repurposed church pews for seating, chandeliers, and a mural on an upper wall. With Sicilian native Francesco Inguaggiato at the helm, the menu features authentic Sicilian cooking with seafood and vegetable-centric dishes influenced by North African flavors. The food is finding its way, but traditional options include fritto misto, typical street fare from Palermo featuring arancino (saffron rice balls), potato and cauliflower croquettes, and a fried meatball. A plate is filling enough to make a meal, especially if paired with Insalata Umberto, a fennel, orange, celery, black olive, tomato and mesclun combination in a citrusy dressing. Homemade pasta is also strong, particularly the busiati in a Sicilian-style pesto with almonds, sun-dried tomatoes, garlic and basil. We recommend the seafood, too (although portions are small), with surprisingly subtle preparations: sea bass in an orange cream sauce; swordfish on a rosemary skewer. For dessert, indulge in the homemade cannoli with its slightly sweet filling of creamy ricotta dusted with pistachios. There's a stand-out selection of cocktails and reasonably priced house wines. Service is friendly. |
