![]() : Affable Jim Pittenger, aka Biker Jim, repoed cars for a living before he turned to slinging sausages from a spotless stainless steel cart on the 16th Street Mall in downtown Denver. He then expanded to three sausage wagons and, eventually, to this hip and lively Ballpark-based brick-and-mortar home with a sidewalk patio. The wieners are split down the middle and charred on a gas grill, but most important is this: Jim's dogs are the antithesis of a ballpark frank. Instead, the charismatic hot dog hero turns out reindeer and wild boar brats, rattlesnake and pheasant, elk and buffalo. Order your dog “Biker Jim’s Classic” style --- torpedoed with Coca-Cola soaked grilled onions and a swizzle of cream cheese unloaded from the front end of a caulking gun. A few burgers are also on the menu, along with sides like fried pickles, baked beans, charred tahini cauliflower and fried macaroni and cheese. For dessert, you’ll find chipotle brownie ice cream sandwiches. Wash it all down with a milkshake, craft beer or cocktail. |
