THIS RESTAURANT IS CLOSED Bistro Zinc Restaurant Review:
A bonafide vacation-style dining experience, Joseph Keller’s restaurant on the beautiful lake in MonteLago Village at Lake Las Vegas features a 75-seat outdoor patio, a 50-seat indoor dining room with a six-seat zinc-topped bar, and an eight-seat granite-topped counter facing the open kitchen. The Oyster Bar menu includes a Grand Plateau and a Petite Plateau of lobster, oysters, shrimp, clams and mussels. Among other signature appetizers are escargot bourguignon with lots of garlic butter. The house market salad---baby arugula with Bosc pear, Stilton blue cheese, candied pecans and citrus vinaigrette---is also a winner. So are Parisienne filet burgers with caramelized onions and imaginative Zinc-style pizzas such as chicken Caesar with white anchovies and Parmesan and the “BLT” (applewood-smoked bacon, romaine and tomatoes). Known for his charcuterie platters, po’ boy sandwiches and daily selection of fromage, Keller also turns out appealing entrées. We like the pan-roasted king salmon with French green lentils, veal piccata with orzo pasta, and a signature dish---chicken potpie. Among sweet finales are a Bistro classic---lemon tart baked in a sweet-tart crust served with fresh mint crème anglaise and strawberry coulis---and white chocolate and fresh raspberry cheesecake with pistachio crème anglaise.
