THIS RESTAURANT IS CLOSED Blue Moon Restaurant Review:
Chef/owner John Pisto of Abalonetti and Domenico’s restaurants tried building a restaurant outside his “box” when he opened Blue Moon. The result: décor that is more daring than the food. The menu throws an occasional odd Asian-inspired appetizer like edamame crostini and grilled satay chicken or token entrée ahi into the mix. But mostly, Pisto draws on what he knows best: Monterey Bay coastal cuisine with Italian accents. Pacific swordfish comes with red potatoes, roma tomatoes, artichokes and white beans, and red abalone is sautéed simply in garlic, white wine and butter. Like his other restaurants, Pisto can’t resist but offer a cioppino and a grilled steak or two.
