THIS RESTAURANT IS CLOSED Blue Nile Restaurant Review:

Authentic Ethiopian furnishings as well as fare give this unusual restaurant its own niche. Seated on low carved wood chairs pulled up to tables that resemble woven baskets, diners eat with their hands, pulling off pieces of the spongy bread injera and using it to scoop up the various stews, both spicy and bland, arrayed atop the platter of bread. A vegetarian version is offered as well as one with assorted meats. Dishes include puréed spiced lentils, lamb cooked in herbed butter and cubes of beef sautéed with peppers, onions and spices. The hot red pepper sauce berbere adds a kick to many dishes, while others are noted as alecha or not spicy. Felli Mekasha opened the restaurant in 1984, and few thought it would manage such longevity. But it has survived many changes on Monroe St. where the other restaurants all serve Greek menus.
