THIS RESTAURANT IS CLOSED Blue Plate Cafe Restaurant Review:
Blue Plate Café’s comfort food goes beyond what many a "diner" or little neighborhood restaurant purveys. Caesar salads come with many of the lunch dishes and are sprinkled with chopped pecans and croutons made from po' boy bread. Creative appetizers include the “Bayoudilla,” a tortilla stuffed with shrimp, smoked sausage, green onions and cheddar with red pepper sauce and sour cream. Then again, a lunch visit may turn up a homey plate of spinach-stuffed pork roast served over garlic mashed potatoes. The burgers are oversize, juicy and dependable. Desserts are mostly ice cream based. Wall-to-wall windows offer good people-watching. This place is packed at lunchtime, but even if there is a line, the wait is generally not longer than 15 minutes. Blue Plate does not serve alcohol.
