Bob Heilman's Beachcomber Restaurant Review:
If you want to eat where locals have dined for decades, try Bob Heilman's Beachcomber. Since 1948, the Beachcomber has been serving steaks, seafood and a variety of American dishes to tourists and residents alike. Its comfortable ambience augments a menu that is familiar yet different. There is aged Prime beef and a roast beef dish that isn't the standard version. At the Beachcomber, they roast the whole cut, with the fat, which is trimmed after it's roasted, creating a richer and more tender product. Yes, some of the recipes are from Heilman's grandmother, and, yes, there's fried chicken with the familiar sides of potatoes, gravy and vegetables. For dessert, try the baked Alaska. And don't forget to take a peek at, and perhaps a sip from, the 700-plus label wine list, one of the best in the area.
