THIS RESTAURANT IS CLOSED Bodega Restaurant Review:
Tapas pave the way to adventurous eating and Bodega is a great place to experience the small plates style of dining. Wood tables, brick and stucco walls and a Moorish-style tile bar lend to the Spanish atmosphere, as do dishes utilizing imported olives and Serrano ham. But Bodega’s fare travels the Mediterranean, with some Southern regional influences. The hard part is deciding how many small courses your stomach and wallet can handle; the menu lists about five dozen choices. Try the crab cake with pineapple-jalapeño salsa. A good discovery is the warm chickpeas with caramelized onions served with pita; the sweetness of the onions balances the cumin and lemon seasonings. Marsala mushrooms are a rich, flavorful veggie choice. Another earthy option is fegato Modena, a dish of chicken livers sautéed with a rich, dark sauce of balsamic vinegar and a tomato-basil ragoût.
