THIS RESTAURANT IS CLOSED Bong Su Restaurant Review:

THIS ESTABLISHMENT IS CLOSED A sensuous, contemporary ambience lures the fashion-forward to this pricey Vietnamese player, where what was once a simple diner has been utterly transformed into a high-style restaurant and full bar. Sexy hostesses in backless silk glide patrons through a narrow dining room of soft-lit Buddhas, draped swaths of pellucid textiles, bamboo detailing and curvy sandstone carvings; servers---less radiant in shapeless chemises---do their best to meet the high-powered promise of their surroundings. The atmosphere fails to elevate the food---a menu of regionally inspired specialties (marked "North," "Central" or "South" Vietnam), much of which is either common or coated in sauces so sugary that any native subtlety is lost. Exceptions include the rice-flour "cupcakes" cradling tender baby shrimp, and the deliciously green-tasting empress rice bathed with raw quail egg. The coconut tapioca dessert, however, is a muddle of pudding, basil, roasted pineapple, raspberries and a dollop of mango sorbet. For those who put scene before food, however, take note: the cocktails are very impressive.
