Breakers Korean BBQ & Grill Restaurant Review:
Gleaming white is the decorative hallmark of this vast establishment, from the walls to the ceramic and other objets positioned carefully throughout the space. Comfortable, ample booths are fitted with the classic barbecue cooking implements, which in this instance are gas-fired. Start by sharing a bowl of cold spicy buckwheat noodles topped with crisp vegetables and a hard-boiled egg. Your server will deftly snip the thin strands with scissors, easing the task of eating them with chopsticks. The spice level is moderate, but another version of the dish comes without spiciness should you be skittish about heat. Don’t miss the seafood pancake. Then it’s on to the main event. We like the pork belly and the bone-in short ribs. The meat is segmented into manageable slices and is laid, along with onion, on the grill. Banchan are first-rate, especially the pickled chayote. Typical but better than usual miso soup and salad accompany the meal. A small bottle of chilled sochu makes a nice companion, or savor a brew or a hot green tea. Wine selections are unimpressive. Dessert includes a Western-style but very tasty cheesecake.
