Brixx Wood Fired Pizza Restaurant Review:

Since opening in 1998, Charlotte-founded Brixx has expanded to include five area locations plus one in nearby Gastonia and several others across the Southeast and Midwest. The reasons: quality food; an unpretentious atmosphere; and affordable prices. The vast interior at Brixx uptown conveys an industrial feel, with exposed duct work and ultra-high ceiling, but warm accents keep the vibe contemporary. A sprawling patio is the place to be on nice evenings. Brick-oven pizza, as the name suggests, is the star. We suggest the standard margherita with fresh house-made mozzarella, Roma tomatoes and basil atop a white or wheat crust. Caribbean jerk chicken, roasted veggie, four-cheese, and spicy shrimp are options as well. Not in the mood for a pie? Share a few appetizers, choose a fresh, filling salad, or go the sandwich or wrap route --- they’re hearty and satisfying with a choice of quinoa salad, bean salad, fruit or chips on the side. For dessert, stay in theme with a S’mores pizza. Alternatively, try a root beer float, various flavors of ice cream or the tiramisu. Half-priced bottles of wine on Sundays, weekly local beer specials, and two-for-one pizzas after 10 p.m. keep all locations buzzing most of the time. The wine list, which offers every choice by the glass, is decent if not exciting, but the real pizzazz is in the craft brews lineup.
