THIS ESTABLISHMENT IS CLOSED As chain steakhouses go, this one serves up a very good value for the money. Part of the same outfit that owns Atlanta-founded Longhorn Steaks, Bugaboo Creek Steak Houses feature Canadian-themed interiors, as they're named for the Bugaboo Mountains in the Canadian Rockies. Children love to run up to the wooden Mountie that waits at the front door, and touch his uniform to make him speak to them. Moose imagery abounds. Save your money and calories on appetizers, and stick with simple fare. The 11-ounce Mountain Man strip steak for $15.99 is a fine value, with perfectly cooked sweet-tasting meat. Avoid steaks that have seasonings, such as the Black Magic Steak, but these may be requested without the seasonings added. In addition to steaks, there's grilled salmon, chicken, pasta, a burger, salads and ribs that, we suspect, are oven-cooked and therefore won't pass the purists' requirements for ribs. The very good baked potato is one of several available sides and a decent salad comes with the mains. Desserts didn't run our engines. The wine list is lacking, but one decent red wine by the glass, the Red Diamond Merlot from Washington State's Columbia Valley, saves the day. Other locations.
