Dining at Cabana is like being at one big party. As lively a Cuban-Caribbean restaurant and bar as you’ll find in Manhattan, the eatery is colorful, fun and serves up dishes and drinks to match. White or red sangría, or mojitos made with Seven-Up and sugar cane, are the real deal, as are the chicken and rice and the ropa vieja, with onions, peppers and tomatoes. Salads are inventive and include fruits like mango and cantaloupe. A sampler plate of bocadillos for those who can’t decide what to eat is quite shareable, with shrimp fritters, jerk (very hot and gooey) chicken wings and empanadas. Lunch is a bargain and a draw among Bloomingdale's shoppers and businessmen alike.
