Chef-owner Jim Valli hails from St. Louis, and his appealing menu---which seamlessly blends steaks, seafood and hearty Italian selections---reflects that citys strong Italian heritage. Heres where youll find crispy roast duck cioppino, osso buco and excellent Chilean sea bass as well as ricotta-filled meatballs (tender as your Nanas love) and addictive toasted ravioli, a St. Louis specialty. But theres something intrinsically sophisticated about Vallis food that a mere litany of items and ingredients could never suggest---the same sophistication that is reflected in the décor, a cool mix of mirrors and pale blue neon that explains the restaurants name. The stark white wine bar is a frosty allusion to ice, and its the perfect place to chill on a hot night over fancy cocktails.
