Chef-owner Douglas Organ succeeds his restaurant, Arbor, with the lighter, looser and more eclectic Café D, and though exotic Med influences like his signature Moroccan lamb and date-orange salad with almonds and olives remain, the lower-priced menu ranges from fried calamari and fish tacos to steak frites and even burgers. But cost-cutting doesn't mean care-cutting. Organ's eye, or rather palate, for detail makes all the difference between a strictly neighborhood place and one that's also a destination.
