Whether for a well-made cappuccino or a full meal---soupe de poissons, Toulouse sausages with pommes purée and fried onions rings and crème brûlée or île flottante---Café Flo does the job deftly. In between, the poulet foccacia (chicken, lots of crispy bacon, well-seasoned guacamole and perky salad leaves on notably good, fresh, herby focaccia bread for £6.75) is typical of the value and freshness offered. Not as child-friendly as it could be, but with its bold Matisse prints and, in this branch, its palm trees and silver bar bedecked by large vases of flowers, Flo is le mot juste for lunch or anytime.
