Cozy yet chic, this Capitol Hill café features elegant white tablecloths, bamboo-inspired dishware and stem-less drinking goblets, creating an eclectic ambience within the exposed cement walls of its airy dining room. Big garage doors let in plenty of light and, in spring and summer, roll open to let breezes stream in. The complimentary crusty bread and hummus is one reason to gather round at lunchtime, but stick to the basics beyond that. The beets and feta platter is easily shared as a starter, while the yam and peanut soup and seared eggplant sandwich with sesame aïoli are worthy follow-ups. Lamb and fish entrées appear on the vegetarian-leaning dinner menu.
