THIS RESTAURANT IS CLOSED Cafe Talesai Restaurant Review:
Located at one end of a small strip mall, this compact offshoot of the popular Talésai on the Sunset Strip offers authentic yet modernized Thai cuisine in a hip, streamlined ambience of garden-style tables and chairs, waxed concrete floors, spotlighted Thai sculpture and lively contemporary music. The menu offers fine versions of all the classics --- including hot-sour tom yum broths, satays of chicken and beef, green papaya salad, Thai-style barbecued chicken and pad thai. We recommend venturing beyond these, however, to less-common, interesting and creative specialties like red curry featuring chicken lavishly embellished with Asian eggplant, green beans, bell peppers and basil; crab noodles fried with egg and scallion; and the char-grilled garlic pork. Vegetarians will also find lots to enjoy, including stir-fried spicy eggplant, tofu sautéed with ginger in black bean sauce, and mixed vegetables in a choice of red or green curry. Lunchtime specials offer some of the menu's most popular items at bargain prices.
